In the InnPressMe project, bio-based materials were further developed in such a way that they could be produced on a pilot scale. In the "Packaging" application area, a test case was developed in which a stand-up pouch was produced with the project partners VTT, Walki and Fraunhofer ISC. A paper was used as the base material, which was coated with a modified PLA dispersion coating. An adapted bioORMOCER(R) was applied to achieve the oxygen barrier. A bio-based material developed by project partner VTT was also used as a sealing material, meaning that a total of approx. 5000 linear metres were produced.

New packaging materials, such as barrier paper, bring new challenges and therefore potential errors for measuring gas and vapour permeability. AMETEK MOCON offers special sample holders for coated papers.Epoxy resin is often used in sample preparation for the permeation measurement of packaging. This is time-consuming and error-prone. New sample adapters for flexible packaging make the use of adhesives superfluous, save time and significantly reduce the risk of errors.
